Still Planning

Well, I officially let my peeps know that my last day at Kor would be 29-Jan. I definitely feel bittersweet about it. We have a small and tight crew left from the days of Kor's massive office. As one of them commented, it's like the body is losing its head...but I know that they will do well here and they will land on their feet. Everything happens for a reason, right?

I'm starting to do some intel gathering on Brasil. I fly into Rio but I want to celebrate Carnaval in a bit more cultural way so I'm thinking of flying into Olinda to celebrate and then make my way down the coast line towards Rio/Sao Paolo. If anyone has any connections or recommendations, I'm all ears.

I also didn't realize what a pain in the ass getting a Brasil visa is...however, I just applied as a Mexican and sent off my passport (Mexico processing time is 2x as fast and 1/2 as cheap...apparently the Brazilians treat US citizens with "reciprocity" -- meaning they hose you over because the US customs/immigration is such a pain in their ass). So hopefully I'll have a visa by next week and can be more sure that I'm actually going.

Kinda scared and excited about everything and having a future that's so up in the air. To be continued...

Booking the flights

My very first post on my very first blog ever.

The idea is to track my "around the world" trip starting in Feb and ending in May(ish). So here's the idea behind the itinerary...and the trip.

The Itinerary
1. 1st stop is definitely Brasil.
Carnival in the northern part of the country; then joining the Martinez bro's for a little adventure around Rio and the southern part of Brasil.
2. Argentina.
I actually have to get myself to Buenos Aires in order to get to South Africa, so why not enjoy a few days in BA!
3. South Africa.
Pre-World Cup but will check out Joberg and Capetown for sure. And if I find time I'd love to travel around to neighboring countries too.
4. Singapore.
My gateway to Asia travel, I'm spending about a week in Singapore. Make sure I don't spit gum on the street!
5. Bali.
My "Eat Pray Love" trip. Ha. Trying to do some yoga and spiritual discovery in Indonesia
6. Bangkok.
A bit of Thailand followed by a journey through SE Asia to likely include Vietnam, Cambodia and maybe Laos.

Then back to Texas will I'll start my new life!
I'm super-excited for this trip as I would like to see so many new places and experience life as a nomad for a while. The trip will be a solo deal, but I'd love to meet up with friends along the way, so if you can find the space in your calendars...let's meet up!
